Ballantine Starter Rod Overview

Starter Rod also known as Lead Rod or Quick Disconnects

Definition:  Short piece of pipe between the drill pipe and the sonde housing/back reamer

Function:

• Eliminates the need for drill pipe wrenches, breaker bars & break-out tongs, resulting in less down time
• Absorbs rotational stress load before the drill pipe
• Can be used as a crossover between competitors tooling

• EZ Connect 2: Consist of transition sub & collar.  This allows for easy removal without heavy tools
• Transition sub:  Installs bewteen the drill pipe and the sonde housing/back reamer
